Japanese Mythological Creature Illustrations by Shigeru Mizuki

Shigeru Mizuki is most famous as the pioneer of Youkai-related manga. Youkai are creatures drawn from Japanese mythology, spirits that have many shapes and may be evil, or kind, or a little of both.

These are illustrations from a book that features 80 mythical creatures from Shigeru Mizuki’s artwork, which came with a set of Tarot cards. Each creature has its own entry that provides additional information about it. Mizuki considered mythical monsters from outside of Japan as types of Yokai, so the book includes creatures from all around the world.
